BackStory Capital Expands Team With Addition of Internal Wholesaler

BackStory Capital, a capital advisory firm specializing in the distribution of alternative investments, announced the hiring of Kip Denison as assistant vice president, expanding the firm’s ability to support sponsors, advisers, family offices, and investors seeking alternative investment solutions.
Denison joins BackStory Capital with experience in account development, relationship management, and alternative investments. His internal wholesaler role will focus on strengthening adviser partnerships and supporting client-facing initiatives as BackStory’s footprint continues to expand.
“Kip’s ability to connect, communicate, and advocate for clients aligns with who we are as a firm,” said Brian Leaf , co-founder of BackStory Capital. “Our growth isn’t just about adding headcount – it’s about investing in people who understand our philosophy and can help us scale responsibly.”
Prior to joining BackStory, Denison was director of business development at The Revenue Firm from April 2024 to November 2025. He also held several roles at Fidelity National Financial from 2018 to 2024, including serving as national sales manager for just over a year.
Denison earned his Master of Business Administration from The Citadel and his bachelor’s degrees from the University of Kentucky. He holds FINRA Series 7 and 63 licenses.
The hire follows a year of growth, according to BackStory, including the expansion of its capital markets, operations, and investor support teams. The firm’s leadership – made up of professionals with experience across alternative investments, capital markets, and asset management – has focused on building a platform rooted in transparency, education, and alignment with advisers.
“As we look forward to 2026, BackStory Capital is committed to driving innovation in alternative investment strategies and tax mitigation, ensuring that our clients can navigate the complexities of the financial landscape. Our dedication to client-centric solutions will guide us as we adapt to emerging opportunities in the market” added Brandon Hughes, co-founder, Backstory Capital.
Last month, BackStory added Matt Ferguson as senior vice president, capital markets. Ferguson focuses on delivering tax-advantaged real estate solutions – including Roth conversion strategies, bonus depreciation programs, opportunity zones, and 1031 exchange-eligible offerings – to financial advisers and registered investment advisers nationwide.
