Cambridge Investment Research Inc., an independent broker-dealer, has appointed Cody Phelps as its first vice president of strategic acquisitions. In this position, Phelps will provide strategic leadership to Cambridge-owned multi-adviser teams, known as offices of supervisory jurisdiction, or OSJs.

Working alongside other senior executives, the firm said Phelps will focus on strengthening internal structures to enhance service delivery, recruitment, and drive strategic initiatives aimed at expanding the firm’s national reach.

“Cody has been an outstanding partner as a leader for one of our OSJs,” said Tammy Robbins, executive vice president and chief business development officer of Cambridge. “His experience will be key as we continue to expand our growth and acquisition strategies, providing solutions and resources that independent financial professionals are seeking.”

The appointment comes as Cambridge ramps up its support for advisers at every stage of their business lifecycle, particularly regarding succession planning. Through either Cambridge or BridgePort Financial Solutions, the firm is now positioned to act as a direct buyer for advisers or OSJs that lack a designated successor. This strategy is designed to protect client relationships and ensure seamless ownership transitions.

Phelps brings more than 15 years of industry experience to the position, spanning business development, consulting, and marketing. He previously served as field vice president for Jordan Creek Financial Solutions, a West Des Moines, Iowa-based independent firm acquired by Cambridge in 2018.

Phelps attended Central College. He holds multiple FINRA licenses, including Series 3, 7, 24, 53, 63, and 66.

Cambridge is an independent broker-dealer and corporate registered investment adviser serving more than 4,100 financial professionals nationwide. As one of the largest internally controlled independent firms in the country, it offers a broad spectrum of solutions for technology, growth, and independence.

BridgePort is a national RIA firm dedicated to supporting fee-only independent advisory firms. It provides customizable solutions for practice management, practice outsourcing, and strategic succession planning.
