LPL Unveils AI-Powered ‘Latitude’ Tech Platform, Citing Nearly $2B in Investment

LPL Financial LLC has introduced LPL Latitude, a unified technology platform that consolidates the firm’s data architecture, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, adviser workflow, and end-investor tools into a single system built with nearly $2 billion of investment during the last three years.
LPL Financial’s chief executive officer Rich Steinmeier said the platform is designed to accelerate innovation and deliver more seamless experiences for advisers and their clients.
The firm has invested nearly $2 billion during the last three years building Latitude’s core components, including expanded cybersecurity protections, according to the company. LPL plans to introduce more than 35 technology enhancements within Latitude during 2026, which the firm described as its largest set of new features to date.
The platform’s centerpiece AI component is Cyan, an agent designed to operate across adviser workflows and provide real-time, contextual support. Planned capabilities include conversational AI for workflow guidance, automated account maintenance, practice-growth recommendations drawn from performance data, and AI-generated financial planning summaries, with initial features expected to launch later this year. The rollout follows Jump, an AI meeting assistant tool for financial advisers provided to LPL by fintech company/LPL vendor Jump and previously reported by AltsWire in August 2025 as part of the firm’s Focus 2025 conference showcase.
On the security side, Latitude incorporates the LPL Business Browser, phishing-resistant multi-factor authentication, and data-minimization measures. According to LPL, the Business Browser has blocked thousands of cyberattacks on adviser systems since its rollout earlier this year. LPL Financial chief technology and information officer Greg Gates said the platform is designed to scale with adviser needs while strengthening security protections.
LPL’s technology spending has grown during the past two years. AltsWire reported in January 2025 that the firm invested approximately $500 million in technology and infrastructure enhancements during 2024 alone, a period that also saw the firm add chief technology officer of infrastructure and operations Sid Vyas and chief information security officer Renana Friedlich to its leadership team.
Other planned Latitude enhancements include single client relationship agreements, a mobile app for LPL’s ClientWorks operating system, and expanded self-service features for Account View, the firm’s investor-facing digital platform, such as secure document sharing and integrated e-signature capability.
LPL plans to showcase Latitude’s cybersecurity enhancements and Cyan’s agentic AI capabilities at its Focus 2026 conference next month.
LPL Financial Holdings Inc. (Nasdaq: LPLA) supports more than 32,000 financial advisers and approximately 1,100 financial institutions, and services approximately $2.3 trillion in brokerage and advisory assets.
