Inland Investments Hires Former iCapital Executive to Lead Product Strategy

Inland Real Estate Investment Corporation, known as Inland Investments, has named Andrew Barnum managing director of product strategy, the Oak Brook, Illinois-based real estate investment and finance company said July 20. Barnum will report to Matthew Fries, chief executive officer and president of Inland Investments.
Barnum will lead a team responsible for four priorities, according to the company: competitive intelligence and benchmarking of products in the marketplace; identifying new product development opportunities; responding to due diligence inquiries; and managing relationships with third-party due diligence firms and platform providers. He will also support education, training, and engagement with broker-dealer and registered investment adviser partners around new and existing products.
“Andrew brings more than 20 years of financial services and investment experience, with deep expertise in alternative investments and private wealth,” said Fries. “His addition to our leadership team will only strengthen Inland Investments’ strong foundation and ability to deliver innovative, investor-centric investment solutions.”
Barnum joins Inland from iCapital, where he was senior vice president, wealth managers, and led the independent broker-dealer channel.
Before that, he served as senior partner, strategic relationships at Cetera Financial Group, where he was responsible for alternative strategic partnerships across Cetera’s network of broker-dealers and RIAs. Fries shares that Cetera background: he spent roughly a decade at the firm, most recently as head of investment products and partner solutions, before being named Inland Investments’ chief executive officer and president in January.
Barnum earned a Bachelor of Science in physics from the University of Delaware. He holds FINRA Series 6, 7, 22, 66, and 63 licenses.
In the spring, Inland Private Capital Corporation fully subscribed an $83.6 million equity raise for Union Multifamily DST, a Delaware statutory trust that owns a 393-unit multifamily property in Union Township, N.J.
Inland Investments offers public and private tax-advantaged growth and income real estate solutions across commercial real estate sectors, according to the company. Inland member companies have facilitated more than $56 billion in acquisitions since inception and currently manage approximately $16 billion in real estate assets across 42 states.
