Former VALIC Financial Adviser Launches Independent Firm With Osaic OSJ
Bart Butler

Bart Butler, a veteran financial adviser with over 25 years of experience, has launched his new independent firm, Rightside Financial, affiliating with wealth management provider Osaic Inc., one of the nation’s largest wealth managers and independent broker-dealers. Butler, who previously managed over $400 million in client assets at VALIC Financial Advisors, said he will leverage Osaic’s technology and support to grow his Columbus, Ohio-based practice.

Rightside Financial will operate through Signature Equity Partners, an Osaic-affiliated office of supervisory jurisdiction, or OSJ, led by Scott Ward Armstrong. Butler said the move allows he and his team to utilize Osaic’s flexible technology platform to enhance client services and streamline operations.

A certified financial planner and certified public accountant, Butler said he has always focused on helping clients navigate through major life transitions. “Launching Rightside Financial allows me to deepen that dedication, while Osaic provides the tools and resources I need to deliver an exceptional client experience,” said Butler.

Kristen Kimmell, executive vice president of business development at Osaic, praised Butler’s decision, stating, “Bart’s passionate approach to client service and entrepreneurial drive make him an excellent addition to the Osaic community.”

Butler’s career is rooted in personal values he developed early in life. He delivered newspapers at age 10, saved his earnings, and later graduated college debt-free. Today, he said he draws on those lessons to help clients achieve their goals through preparation, discipline, and thoughtful planning.

Butler spent 2001 through 2025 at VALIC Financial Advisors, the brokerage and investment advisory arm of Corebridge Financial. Prior to that, he did stints at The Variable Annuity Marketing Company, also affiliated with Corebridge, and American General Financial Advisors.

AltsWire recently reported on other Osaic activity. The wealth manager recently brought on advisers Mandy Dollar and Jennifer Wallis to launch ArrowPoint Wealth Advisors, a $379 million-asset firm in Oklahoma. Earlier this month, Osaic added a former Commonwealth firm, Virtus Wealth Solutions, a Morgantown, W.V.-based firm with $460 million in client assets. Also woman-owned, that team joined Osaic’s supported independence (W-2) channel.
