Bonaventure Expands Sales Team with Two Senior Hires
Ian McElreath & Phil Joyce

Bonaventure has added two executives to its capital markets sales team as the vertically integrated multifamily real estate investment firm continues to build out its distribution platform.

Ian McElreath has joined Bonaventure as senior vice president of capital markets, serving as an external wholesaler covering the company’s eastern region, comprised of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.

Phil Joyce has been hired as vice president within the capital markets group, where he will support the company’s Northeast region, comprised of Connecticut, Delaware, Indiana, Kentucky, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont and West Virginia.

The hires follow the promotion of Kerry Peoples, who joined Bonaventure last summer as head of capital markets for the Western U.S. and has since been elevated to lead the firm’s capital markets group following the departure of David Pittman.

In his role, McElreath will focus on raising capital in the private wealth channel across Bonaventure’s suite of real estate investment strategies. He brings more than 20 years of experience in alternative investment distribution, most recently serving as senior vice president at Griffin Capital Company, where he focused on tax-advantaged real estate offerings. McElreath has also held senior distribution roles at Emerson Equity, Cantor Fitzgerald, Realty Capital Securities and KBS Capital Markets Group, working with registered investment advisers, independent broker-dealers and wirehouse advisors across multiple channels.

Joyce, as vice president, will provide internal sales support to advisors across his assigned territories, focusing on relationship development, product education and distribution support. He joined Bonaventure from Rock Harbor, where he served as regional director, and previously held senior sales and business development roles at S&P Global Market Intelligence, Gabelli Funds, American Century Investments and Direxion Investments. His background includes supporting multi-channel distribution efforts across mutual funds, alternative investments and private markets strategies.

The firm said the appointments reflect its continued investment in a relationship-driven capital markets platform as demand for tax-efficient real estate strategies grows.

“As Bonaventure continues to scale, expanding our capital markets team with experienced, relationship-driven professionals is a critical part of our long-term strategy,” Peoples said in a statement. “These additions reflect our continued investment in the people, infrastructure and coverage needed to support our partners.”

Bonaventure specializes in multifamily real estate investments across the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast regions. The firm reports more than $2.8 billion in assets under management and operates an owner-operator model encompassing development, asset management and property management.
