New CAIS Marketplace Brings Curated Alt Investment Models to RIAs and Wealth Firms

Alternative investment platform CAIS announced the launch of CAIS Models Marketplace, a centralized hub designed to streamline access to model portfolios featuring alternative investment strategies.

“Designing, implementing and managing portfolios that include alternatives has historically been a time-intensive and complex process,” said Neil Blundell, chief investment officer at CAIS Advisors and head of investments at CAIS. “We are thrilled to enhance our platform capabilities to help with these challenges and provide financial advisers another pathway to integrate alternatives with a suite of alternative investment model portfolios.”

CAIS Models Marketplace will offer three categories of multi-asset and multi-manager model portfolio configurations:

  • Wealth firm model portfolios: Investment models developed by wealth management firms, tailored to their end-clients’ specific portfolio needs and investment goals.
  • Asset manager model portfolios: Investment models developed by alternative asset managers, providing an additional avenue for advisers to access their funds. Initial participants include well-known managers such as Ares Management, BlackRock, Blue Owl, Carlyle, Franklin Templeton, and KKR, with further expansion planned.
  • CAIS Advisors models: A suite of multi-asset, multi-manager model portfolios developed by CAIS Advisors LLC, leveraging the firm’s proprietary model technology. These models are expected to launch in the second quarter of 2025, and are designed to enhance efficiency and flexibility in personalized investment decisions.

The Models Marketplace is fully integrated with CAIS Compass, the firm’s portfolio construction tool that enables advisers to analyze how alternative investments may impact portfolio characteristics such as risk, return, and correlation.

According to a recent survey conducted by CAIS and Mercer, 77% of financial advisers said they would use or consider using model portfolios, with 47% identifying them as a top resource for portfolio construction.

“We believe this Marketplace represents a significant step forward in democratizing access to institutional-quality alternatives,” said Matt Brown, founder and CEO of CAIS. “By empowering advisers with efficient tools and curated models, we aim to close the gap between traditional and alternative investing.”

The launch follows a series of platform upgrades aimed at enhancing trade capabilities and simplifying the adviser workflow—a reflection of broader industry momentum toward technology-enabled access to alternatives. As more advisers seek to differentiate portfolios and manage risk in volatile markets, pre-constructed models are emerging as a scalable solution.

Founded in 2009, CAIS serves over 50,000 independent financial advisers who oversee more than $6 trillion in client assets. The company provides access to hedge funds, private equity, private debt, real estate, digital assets, and structured notes through its platform, with offices in New York, Los Angeles, Austin, and London.
